MORTARS

Our refractory mortars and the high alumina mortars are primarily used for joining the refractory fire bricks, fire clay bricks and the high alumina bricks. The mortars are used for laying the basic layout of the bricks.

Know More

Mortars are specialized materials used in masonry and construction to bond and hold together bricks, blocks, or other building elements. They are typically a mixture of cement, sand, water, and sometimes additional additives for specific properties. Mortars play a crucial role in providing structural integrity, stability, and durability to various types of masonry structures.

Properties and Applications of Mortars:

Adhesion: Mortars provide the necessary adhesion to bond masonry units together, creating a solid and stable structure. The mortar acts as a glue, transferring loads and distributing stresses across the masonry surface.

Strength: Mortars contribute to the overall strength of a masonry structure by providing a strong and cohesive bond between the individual units. The type and proportions of materials used in the mortar mixture determine its strength characteristics.

Workability: Mortars need to have good workability to facilitate the laying and leveling of masonry units. The consistency and texture of the mortar affect its ability to be easily spread and shaped, ensuring proper mortar coverage and alignment.

Durability: Mortars play a crucial role in the long-term durability of masonry structures. They need to withstand various environmental factors, such as moisture, temperature changes, and chemical exposure, without compromising their strength and integrity.
